Type Locality:
The Longstaff Bluff Formation is the most extensive unit of the Piling Group, occuring in central Baffin Island inland from Nauja abd Wordie Bays (Scott et al., 2002). No type section has been described.
Locality Data:
Thickness(m): Minimum 3000, Maximum 5000.
Lithology:
The Longstaff Bluff Formation is comprised dominantly of psammite, with lesser semipelite and rare pelite (Scott et al., 2002).
Relationship:
The Longstaff Bluff Formation is the highest stratigraphic unit of the Pling Group, and overlies the Bravo Lake Formation to the southeast, and the Astrate River Formation to the northwest (Scott et al., 2002).
